Hitachi Data Systems Named by Fortune and Great Place to Work® as One of 2015 Best Workplaces for Millennials

Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced that it was selected by Fortune and work culture experts Great Place to Work® as one of 2015’s 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials in the United States.

Fortune, a global leader in business journalism, and Great Place to Work anonymously polled nearly 90,000 millennials using Great Place to Work’s employee assessment survey, Trust Index©, to create this year’s list. The list honors companies that understand employee happiness and satisfaction ultimately align with the long-term success of a company and its clients.

There were 748 Hitachi Data Systems employees who participated in the survey, with the majority handing out high rankings for the company’s friendly team environment, employee empowerment, flexible working arrangements and a positive team spirit that prioritizes customers above all else.

“The Hitachi Spirit and our culture here at HDS is highly valued by our employees. We’re honored to be among the companies recognized as one of the Best Workplaces for Millennials,” said Scott Kelly, chief human resources officer at Hitachi Data Systems. “Our vision and Hitachi’s Social Innovation strategy is especially appealing to millennials. They want to be part of an energized, fun and nurturing culture that empowers each individual to make an impact not just on our business, but to society… that’s what Social Innovation is all about.”

“Hitachi Data Systems is ruled by the Hitachi Spirit, a combination of trust, integrity and a pioneering spirit,” says Sarah Lewis-Kulin, Great Place to Work® Reviews’ Vice President and Senior Editor. “The Hitachi Spirit indeed seems to pervade the workplace and, as a result, the overwhelming majority of employees report a friendly team atmosphere.”

About The Best Workplaces for Millennials 2015
The 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials is a “best of the best” ranking. The winners come from the universe of companies with published Great Place to Work Reviews, meaning they are serious about creating a great workplace and comfortable with transparency. These companies either have proven to be great workplaces — earning a spot on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® list or the Best Small & Medium Workplaces list — or are dedicated to improving their cultures as shown by their willingness to survey employees and publish the results. Of the 465 companies with published reviews recently surveyed using the Trust Index© Employee Survey, 315 surveyed at least 50 employees under age 35. Almost 90,000 millennial-aged employees from these companies completed the survey and answered 58 questions about how frequently they experience the behaviors that create a great workplace. This resulted in a total score for each company based entirely upon employee feedback. The Great Place to Work® Best Workplaces for Millennials 2015 ranking includes the best 100 companies ranked by these millennials’ scores.
